Solpost Fresc - 2009
Solpost Fresc is like a stroll along the “marges” or handmade stone wall terraces of Mas d’en Rafel, with Garnatxa (Grenache) as our guide. We select different vineyard plots to make this wine which result in an intensely aromatic wine which is rich and complex and at the same time pleasant and capable of winning over most palates.
With 80% of Garnatxa Negra (Red Grenache), Solpost Fresc is an aged wine which spends just six months in third and fourth fill barrels. We obtain a cherry coloured wine which is well structured, giving aromas of red fruit, spices and anise. It is another way of enjoying our terroir.
Viticulture and Enology:
Xavi Peñas and Pilar Just.
80% Red Grenache, 10% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Sauvignon.
The stalks are separated from the grapes in the cellar where fermentation begins and maceration is carried out in stainless tanks. The temperature is carefully maintained at 28ºC. After 20 days of maceration the grapes are separated from the must and the malolactic fermentation begins
The wine is aged for 6 months in barrels of American (60%) and French (40%) oak.
Before bottling the wine is clarified using egg white from fresh eggs, followed by a very gentle filtration.
Solpost Fresc is a cherry coloured, lively wine with a velvety and elegant texture. In the nose we find red fruit, spices and anise. In the mouth, it is very agreeable, well structured, with rounded tannins which fill our mouth, leaving behind a delectable sensation of freshness.
